Torchic is a Fire type Pokémon, officially released in Gen III.

It evolves into Combusken at level 16, and then to Blaziken at level 36.

Along with Treecko and Mudkip, Torchic is one of the starter Pokémon available on the Gen III Main Games (Ruby and Sapphire) and their remake (Emerald).

It is unknown if this different incarnation had different evolutions and/or moves.

The original art that features it is official and it was shown in various videogame exhibitions.

The two Torchic designs featured here are early Pokémon designs, that belong to Gen III.

APPEARANCE Edit

Torchic is a small orange chick with some yellow feathers. It stands in its feet, It just has a simulated tail with no additional feathers. Both designs feature two floppy ear-like appendages on their heads.

The other know designs looks smaller and it's more rounded, we did not saw that design fully colored but it might have the lower part of the body colored in a lighter tone, to resemble a chicken which has still half of its body inside the egg.

It is said to be based on the basan, a legendary creature.

Its face is exacly like the official design, but the back of its head has a yellow flame mark.

FAN SPECULATION Edit

While this alternate Torchic designs are greatly similar with the finished and released product, fans have had a great speculation regarding this early designs floppy and big ears.

As a personal thinking, I believe this version of Torchic to be more similar to its second evolution Blaziken, because the floppy ears resemble Blaziken's hair extension, what makes us believe Blaziken could've had an early design or sketch reminiscent of our official Torchic's head feathers, but they decided to mix the designs at the last moment.
